Tivo notes

Got the new Tivo working and networked on Saturday. I really wish Tivo had a feature to backup your shows, season passes, wish lists, and prefs to either a computer or to their servers. Until last night, we had to have both Tivos powered up since we had unwatched shows (last week’s ER and – of course – Surreal Life) and too many season passes to remember.

The best new feature of the Series 2 model is online scheduling at tivo.com. Go to the site, search for a show, set it to record or configure a season pass, and it’s updated when the tivo makes it’s nightly call back to the mothership. Damned cool.

The music & photos features is pretty nice but I’m waiting for my software update to arrive from the Tivo mothership so I can enable the new network doodads like iSee iTunes. As it is, we can now listen to MP3 files (but not AAC) from iTunes and view our iPhotos from Julie’s PowerBook and our G4 but not my PowerBook. There seems to be some sort of conflict between the Tivo Desktop software and my pre-release copy of Tiger.
